Since the tenth century the Potala has stood above the Tibetan capital city of Lhasa. It has been the home of Apsos for all of that time. The heritage of this breed stretches even beyond the Potala however. With no known canine ancestors the Lhasa Apso has existed in this ancient country by virtue of it's characteristics for eons. These unique characteristics make these dogs as special as the Potala itself. Here at Tabu we strive always to preserve the perfect features found in the dogs originally brought from Tibet. No changes were needed. The climate, altitude and cultural influence created a hardy little dog that was perfected before we brought them to the New World. |

Today the country of Tibet is besieged by China and mass genocide is being perpetrated on these gentle people. Many atrocities have occurred including the destruction of the Tibetans pets. In exile many Tibetan people are working to free Tibet and we at Tabu join in the effort to allow these people to have their country back. Pictured here is Lama Thubten Wangchen before the photo of the 14th Dalai Lama in Casa del Tibet of Barcelona. He is holding Ch. Tabu's CL Cam'ra Ready Majhano better known to us all as "Cami". She was the 86th AKC Apso Champion bred by Tabu Lhasa Apsos. We were very honored by Lama Wangchen's comments regarding her authentic Tibetan Features. |

This photo was taken at Hamilton Farms in New Jersey in the 1950's. It is of Champion Le who was bred by the 13th Dalai Lama. Le walked on the land of Tibet, his native country, and then was caught here in motion in his new home in the United States. Here at Tabu, we are pleased that our pedigrees are closed to only those dogs descended from the imports brought from Tibet by Mr. and Mrs. Cutting. Tabu Apsos can trace their ancestors back to the steps of the Potala exclusively. |
